“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood…” (Ephesians 6:12)

As we come before God in worship, we are reminded that our battles are not earthly or visible. They are spiritual. Our struggle is not against people, but against the powers of darkness and the unseen forces of evil that oppose God’s truth (Ephesians 6:12). Yet we worship with confidence, knowing that the enemy is already defeated, for Christ has overcome the world (John 16:33).

The enemy is the father of lies, speaking deception from the beginning (John 8:44), but we lift our eyes to Jesus—our Emmanuel, God with us (Matthew 1:23). He is greater than the one who is in the world, and His presence surrounds us as we worship (1 John 4:4).

In this season of unrest—when the world is marked by lawlessness, fear, wars, and uncertainty (Matthew 24:6–12)—we choose not to be shaken. Instead, we put on the full armour of God, not with weapons of the flesh, but with divine strength that pulls down strongholds and aligns our hearts and thoughts with Christ (Ephesians 6:11; 2 Corinthians 10:3–5).

As we worship, we clothe ourselves with truth, righteousness, faith, and salvation. We lift the shield of faith to extinguish every flaming arrow of the enemy, and we take up the sword of the Spirit—the living Word of God—which brings light, freedom, and victory (Ephesians 6:14–17). We rely on the Holy Spirit within us, who leads us into all truth (John 14:26).

We give thanks to God, for in Christ Jesus we have been given victory. The enemy’s power is broken, and his defeat is certain (Romans 16:20). Jesus triumphed at the cross, rose in glory, and now sits at the right hand of the Father, interceding for us (Colossians 2:15; Romans 8:34).

As we wait for the return of our Lord in glory, we stand firm in faith. We worship with hope, like watchmen waiting for the dawn (Psalm 130:5–6). Our eyes remain fixed on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, trusting that all things are being brought under His authority (Hebrews 12:2; Hebrews 10:13).

In worship, we declare: Victory belongs to Jesus.
And in Him, we stand—now and forever. Amen.
