"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9; 1 John 1:7).
Repentance brings forgiveness and gives us a fresh start (Acts 3:19; 2 Corinthians 5:17). The Bible teaches us to know the truth so God’s truth can set us free from the challenges and temptations we face (John 8:32).
A covenant is a promise made before we face the challenges for which the covenant is intended. For example, a marriage covenant is made “for better or for worse” before the marriage, with the intention of keeping it
Job made a covenant with his eyes not to look lustfully at any young woman, with the intention of keeping it (Job 31:1). God’s Word is a lamp for our feet and a light for our path (Psalm 119:105). The Bible is God’s revealed will, and God fulfills His Word by His power.
Our part is to agree with God’s Word and with the covenants we make, knowing we cannot fulfill them by our own strength. We have God’s indwelling power — the Holy Spirit — to help us keep our covenant (Romans 8:11; Ephesians 3:16–20).
Recognize that God is faithful and true: when we confess our sins we are forgiven, and the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9; 1 John 1:7). Our failures do not lead to condemnation; His blood washes away our failures and weaknesses. The Holy Spirit is always there to help us overcome in God’s power every temptation and to deliver us from the evil one, for He who is in us is greater than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4; Romans 8:13).
Be still and let your heart, soul, and body be in agreement with God’s Word, which is true and eternal — enduring longer than the earth that will wear out like a garment (Psalm 46:10; Psalm 102:25–26). Let go and stand firm on God’s Word with God’s help and in the power of His indwelling Spirit, knowing that repentance brings forgiveness, a fresh start, and a new beginning in Christ Jesus (Matthew 11:28; Acts 3:19; 2 Corinthians 5:17).
Return to the Lord in repentance and your soul will find rest and salvation; in quietness and complete trust in Him is your strength. Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord (Zechariah 4:6).
Trust the Holy Spirit at work in you to do far more than you can ask or imagine according to His immeasurable power (Ephesians 3:20). Each day He cleanses us of our failures and gives us a new start — so every morning we can rise renewed and thankful.
Thank you, Father, Son, and the Person of the Holy Spirit dwelling in us. May God’s Spirit lead us, strengthen us, teach us to walk in the grace of our lord Jesus Christ and fellowship of the holy spirit; guide us in the way everlasting in Christ our Redeemer and Saviour. Amen
